Klaviyo

What This Does

Klaviyo's built-in AI can generate email subject lines, preview text, and body copy — without leaving your email builder. For e-commerce coordinators juggling weekly campaigns, it eliminates the blank-page problem and cuts email drafting time in half.

Before You Start

  • You have a Klaviyo account (free tier works)
  • You have an email campaign or flow open in the editor
  • You know what the email is about (product, offer, segment)

Steps

1. Open the Email Editor

  1. In Klaviyo, go to Campaigns → click Create Campaign or open an existing draft
  2. Choose Email as the channel
  3. Click Design Email to enter the drag-and-drop editor

What you should see: The email template builder with content blocks

2. Use AI to Generate Subject Line

  1. In the campaign setup screen (before the editor), look for the Subject line field
  2. Click the Generate subject line button (sparkle icon ✨ or "AI Suggestions" link beside the field)
  3. You'll see a text prompt: describe your email briefly — e.g., "20% off sale on outdoor water bottles, targeting past buyers"
  4. Click Generate — Klaviyo produces 5 subject line variations

What you should see: 5 subject line options with different angles (urgency, curiosity, benefit-focused) Troubleshooting: If you don't see the AI button, ensure your account has the feature enabled — go to Settings → Integrations

3. Generate Email Body Copy

  1. In the email editor, add a Text block
  2. Click inside the text block → look for the AI writing button (pencil + sparkle icon) in the text toolbar
  3. A prompt box opens: describe the email body you need — e.g., "Promotional email for summer sale, 20% off all water bottles, friendly and excited tone, include a clear CTA to shop now"
  4. Click Write → AI generates a draft email body
  5. Edit to match your brand voice and add specific product links

What you should see: A full email draft in your text block, ready to refine Troubleshooting: If the AI option isn't visible, check that you're in a text block (not an image block) and that your Klaviyo plan includes AI features

4. Review and Customize

  1. Read the generated copy — AI tends toward generic; add specific product names, prices, and any time-sensitive details
  2. Adjust CTA button text to match the offer
  3. Use Preview & Test to see how it looks on mobile

Real Example

Scenario: It's Tuesday. You need a Prime Day teaser email for your insulated water bottle line, going out to 3,000 past buyers on Thursday.

What you type: "Teaser email for Prime Day sale on insulated water bottles — dropping a mystery deal Thursday. Build anticipation, don't reveal the discount yet. Tone: playful and curious."

What you get: A 150-word email body with a curiosity-hook opening ("Something big is coming..."), 2-3 sentences teasing the deal, and a CTA button text suggestion like "Be the First to Know."

Tips

  • The subject line generator works best when you give it the specific offer and audience — "20% off outdoor gear, targeting abandoned cart customers" beats "sale email"
  • Always replace generic AI phrases like "Amazing deals await!" with specific product names and prices
  • Generate 3-4 subject line variations and A/B test the top 2 — Klaviyo makes this one click
